The 1911 grip screws are a small, but important part of the gun. They are what finishes the style of the gun you want to show to set your 1911 apart from the crowd. There are many different types of 1911 grip screws available on the market, so it is important to choose the right ones for your gun.
There are also many different types of grip screws available, including standard slotted screws, Allen head screws, and Torx head screws. The most common type of grip screw is the standard slotted screw. It has a slot in the head of the screw that can be used with a flathead screwdriver.
The Allen head screw has a hexagonal-shaped head that can be used with an Allen wrench. The Torx head screw has a star-shaped head that can be used with a Torx wrench. Torx head screws are often used on firearms because they are less likely to strip the screw heads than Allen head screws.
When choosing 1911 grip screws, it is important to choose the right type and size for your gun. The wrong type or size of screws can damage the gun or the grips. Slotted screws are the most common type of grip screw, and they can be used with a flathead screwdriver. Allen head screws have a hexagonal-shaped head that can be used with an Allen wrench, and Torx head screws have a star-shaped head that can be used with a Torx wrench.
How To Change Your Grip Screws
Oftentimes, the screws are tighter in the bushings than the bushings are within the frame. This results in both parts being removed instead of only the desired screw. The wrong solution would be to grab onto bushing threads with a pair of pliers and try forcing out the screw by using a Screwdriver. Unfortunately, this will ruin fine threads on bushing- making it unusable overall.
The solution to this problem is easy, cheap, and slow. All you have to do is place a drop of red Loctite on the bushing and screw it back into the frame. The screw will not get any tighter in the bushing, but as long as the bushing is tight in the frame, you can proceed to the next step. Don't go overboard though - if you strip out the threads, it'll be much harder to remove the screw later when the Loctite has cured. Try removing the screw after a day or two; if everything went according to plan, then the bushing should be held in place by Loctite at that point, and unscrewing it should be no problem.
If you need to remove the bushing, you can do so by heating it up. When you go to reassemble everything, just use common sense and be careful with the screws. Also, never use Loctite on the grip screws—it’ll make future disassembly more difficult than it needs to be. If your grip screws tend to come loose often, an easy fix is to put a small lock washer or rubber washer under the head of each screw.
