What Is A Strope
The final stage of sharpening is using a strop. The function is to polish and work off any burr left from previous stages, though other materials are sometimes used in their places such as leather or canvas; both types come with either smooth (suede) side against flesh-side which can be mounted on wood paddles like more traditional stones but also has flexible options where you'll find them attached directly onto razor style hanging strops so they're easy enough even while working alone without needing anything else nearby.
How To Properly Use A Strop
If you use a honing compound on your blade, start by applying it to the surface of the strop. A little goes a long way so there's no need for lots in one spot allow this layer time before moving on to another section to produce excellent results.

Smooth or Suede Strop
